Elon Musk is in the process of opening a primary and secondary school in Austin, Texas, called The School, according to CNN. In the long run, Musk plans to develop it into a university.
Musk has always been interested in education. In the past, he has been involved in founding Ad Astra, a school located at SpaceX’s headquarters in California. Additionally, in 2021, he expressed his desire to establish a science-focused university in Texas. Choosing Texas is likely because Tesla’s headquarters have been moved from California to Texas.
The project, known as The Foundation, is chaired by Jared Birchall, who oversees the Musk family’s private businesses and serves as the president of the Musk Foundation. The goal of this project is to create a school that teaches subjects related to mathematics, science, and technology (STEM). Initially, it will enroll 50 students. Currently, the project is in the process of establishment and has successfully applied for tax exemption from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) of the United States.
Representatives of Elon Musk’s group have not yet commented on The Foundation and The School when contacted by CNN.
