Urban Sol Prepares to Deploy Real-time Drone Data Collection for Route-specific Traffic Forecasting

The government of Seoul, South Korea, has announced plans to utilize drones for real-time traffic monitoring, starting in 2024. These drones will fly at an altitude of 200 meters above the ground and send data to AI systems for analysis and prediction of traffic conditions.

Officials in Seoul have already conducted tests using drones to assess traffic conditions in September and October, during holiday seasons and events where traffic congestion is high. In addition, the drones will be used to monitor construction sites and ensure safety compliance, as well as detect any unauthorized activities on the roads where there are no closed-circuit cameras.

The data collected and recorded by these drones will also be used to determine the safety of certain areas and identify any violations that may occur beyond the permitted limits. Simultaneously, the traffic monitoring data can be used to immediately close certain routes if overcrowding of vehicles and pedestrians is detected.

TLDR: The government of Seoul is planning to implement drones for real-time traffic monitoring, starting in 2024. These drones will fly at a height of 200 meters, collecting data to be processed by AI systems. The purpose of this initiative is to improve traffic conditions, ensure safety compliance, and manage traffic congestion effectively.
