Intel Unveils Cutting-Edge 14th Generation Core Processor (Raptor Lake Refresh) Exclusively for Notebooks – A Technological Marvel with the Acclaimed HX Code

Intel Introduces Core 14th Gen (Raptor Lake Refresh) CPUs for Laptops

After unveiling the first desktop lineup of Core 14th Gen processors in October 2023, Intel has now revealed the Core 14th Gen CPUs designed specifically for laptops. These processors, which still utilize the Intel 7 manufacturing process just like the previous Core 13th Gen (Raptor Lake), offer improved performance and efficiency.

The Core 14th Gen HX series, aimed at high-performance gaming customers, consumes power ranging from 55 to 157 watts. This is higher compared to the Core Ultra series (Meteor Lake) with the H series code, which consumes power from 28 to 115 watts. This means that Intel now has two parallel lines of laptop processors, differentiating between the original Core brand and the new Core Ultra brand.

In simple terms, if you want a high-powered laptop, you should go for the HX-Series. However, if you desire a balance between size, weight, and battery life, the H-Series is the way to go. It is expected that in 2025, Intel will transition fully to using Core Ultra processors, leaving behind the older models.

The Core 14th Gen HX series consists of five sub-models, including:

1. Core i9-14900HX: 24 cores (8P+16E), 32 threads, and 36MB cache
2. Core i7-14700HX: 20 cores (8P+12E), 28 threads, and 33MB cache
3. Core i7-14650HX: 16 cores (8P+8E), 24 threads, and 30MB cache
4. Core i5-14500HX: 14 cores (6P+8E), 20 threads, and 24MB cache
5. Core i5-14450HX: 10 cores (6P+4E), 16 threads, and 20MB cache

When comparing Intel’s benchmark numbers, the Core i9-14900HX competes with its Ryzen counterpart, the Ryzen 9 7945HX. While the Ryzen processor tends to outperform in most gaming tests, the comparison against the previous generation (13th Gen Raptor Lake, non-refresh) remains unknown.

TLDR: Intel has introduced the Core 14th Gen HX series processors for laptops, catering to high-performance gamers. These processors offer improved power and efficiency compared to the previous generation. The lineup includes five sub-models, ranging from the Core i9-14900HX to the Core i5-14450HX. Intel’s benchmark numbers show promising competition against AMD’s Ryzen counterparts. However, the comparison against the previous generation is yet to be determined.
