Intel Confirms Second Generation Genie Arc Battlemage Release in 2024, Commences Development of Third Generation Genie Arc

In a recent interview with PCWorld at CES 2024, Tom Petersen, a top-level engineer at Intel (holding the position of Intel Fellow), confirmed that the second generation of Intel Arc graphics card, codenamed Battlemage, is scheduled to be released in 2024.

Petersen revealed that Battlemage is currently in the production phase and real GPUs are being tested in the lab. Furthermore, he mentioned that 30% of the Arc team is working on developing software for Battlemage, while the hardware team has also begun working on the third generation GPU, code-named Celestial.

According to Petersen, the unveiling of Battlemage is expected to take place before CES 2025, in the early part of the next year, aligning with Intel’s roadmap. It is worth mentioning that Intel has previously announced a total of four Arc GPUs, named Alchemist, Battlemage, Celestial, and Druid, utilizing the Xe-HPG, Xe2-HPG, Xe3-HPG, and Xe Next architectures respectively.
