Vodafone, a major global telecommunications provider, has announced a strategic partnership with Microsoft that will last for 10 years. The collaboration aims to invest in Generative AI to enhance the customer experience for Vodafone’s over 300 million global subscribers.

In addition to improving the customer experience, this partnership will encompass the development of IoT management systems, the creation of new digital services and digital financial services for small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as the enhancement of Vodafone’s data centers and cloud services.

Satya Nadella, the CEO of Microsoft, stated that this collaboration unlocks a new era of AI for organizations across all industries. Margherita Della Valle, the CEO of Vodafone Group, expressed that this partnership will accelerate the digital transformation for all customer segments of the company.

The details of this collaboration will focus on five key areas. Firstly, the utilization of Generative AI on the TOBi customer service platform. Secondly, the integration of Azure with the IoT management platform, which currently has over 175 million devices. Thirdly, the expansion of the digital banking service M-Pesa in Africa to increase accessibility. Fourthly, leveraging Microsoft’s cloud services for over 24 million enterprise customers in Europe. Lastly, the migration of Vodafone’s data centers to Microsoft’s cloud.
