During the Pixel 8 launch event, Google unveiled Assistant with Bard, combining two AI assistants, Google Assistant and Bard, to enhance their capabilities. The main issue users faced was not their intelligence, but rather the lengthy and confusing brand names (were we supposed to say Assistant or Bard?). It seems that Google acknowledged this problem and someone took the initiative to dissect the latest version of Google’s Android app APK file. Surprisingly, the brand name has been changed to just… Bard.
In Google’s original documentation, they used the term “Google Assistant (classic)” to refer to the old assistant and “Assistant with Bard” for the new one. However, the text has now been modified to “Google Assistant” (without a suffix) and Bard, making it clear that Google is now choosing to market Bard separately from Assistant.
