iOS User Share Report – iOS 17 Already Captures 76% of Users, Yet Numbers Lag Behind iOS 16

Apple has released an update on the user distribution of each iOS version. This is the first report since the release of iOS 17 in September. The data provided is as of February 4th, 2024.

iOS 17 holds a majority of 76% amongst all iPhone users sold in the past 4 years. In contrast, iOS 16 accounts for 20%. However, when considering all iPhone models, iOS 17 only makes up 66%, which is less than the 81% share iOS 16 had during the same period.

In addition to iPhone data, Apple has also shared the statistics for iPadOS. Amongst new iPad models sold in the past 4 years, iPadOS 17 occupies a share of 61%. When including all iPad models, iPadOS 17 holds a slightly lower percentage at 53%.

TLDR: Apple’s latest report shows that iOS 17 has the majority share of users among all iPhone models sold in the past 4 years, at 76%. However, when considering all iPhone models, iOS 17 accounts for 66%, which is lower than the 81% share held by iOS 16 during the same timeframe. For iPadOS, among new iPad models, iPadOS 17 holds a 61% share, while considering all iPad models, it has a 53% share.
