There are reports from Mark Gurman of Bloomberg regarding the Apple Vision Pro headset requiring a Passcode to unlock and authenticate users, similar to the iPhone and iPad’s 6-digit numerical codes. However, the question is, what happens if you forget this Passcode? Can it be recovered on its own?
According to Gurman, when customers who forgot this Passcode asked Apple for assistance, they were informed that it cannot be recovered or reset independently. Instead, the Vision Pro headset has to be taken to an Apple Store for troubleshooting. In cases where visiting a store is inconvenient, customers can send the product to Apple for assistance.
In terms of using the Vision Pro headset, each authentication process is done through the Optic ID eye scanning, similar to Face ID or Touch ID on iPhones and iPads. However, there are instances where the device may prompt for a Passcode, such as after a restart or other situations, which increases the potential for forgetfulness.
Unlike iPhones and iPads, where Passcodes can be reset by connecting the device to a Mac or PC, the Vision Pro headset does not have this capability.
TLDR: According to reports, if you forget the Passcode for the Apple Vision Pro headset, you cannot recover or reset it on your own. Instead, you need to bring it to an Apple Store for assistance. Eye scanning is used for user authentication, but there may be situations where a Passcode is required. Unlike iPhones and iPads, connecting the Vision Pro headset to a computer does not allow for Passcode reset.
