Next-Gen Console Sales Reveal: Take-Two Unveils an Astounding Total of 77 Million Consoles Sold, with PS5 Outselling Xbox 2 by a Margin.

Microsoft has remained silent about the sales figures for its Xbox hardware for quite some time now, while Sony has continuously boasted about the sales of the PS5. However, in a recent earnings call by Take-Two Interactive, a major game publisher that releases games on all platforms, it was revealed that the combined sales of the Gen 9 consoles (Xbox Series and PS5) have reached a staggering 77 million units, including projections until the end of 2023.

When we subtract the confirmed sales of the PS5, which stands at 50 million units as of December 2023, we can deduce that the Xbox Series has sold approximately 27 million units. In simpler terms, the sales ratio between the PS5 and the Xbox Series is roughly 2:1. This is not a surprising figure, as industry analysts had already predicted such sales figures.

It is worth noting that the only time Microsoft has openly shared sales figures for its hardware was during a game developer conference in Brazil in mid-2023, where they revealed that the Xbox Series had sold 21 million units.

TLDR: Microsoft has not disclosed the sales figures for the Xbox hardware, but according to Take-Two Interactive, the combined sales of the Gen 9 consoles (Xbox Series and PS5) have reached 77 million units, with the PS5 outselling the Xbox Series at a 2:1 ratio. Microsoft previously revealed that the Xbox Series had sold 21 million units during a game developer conference in Brazil.
