NVIDIA has officially introduced the smallest version of their workstation graphics card, the RTX 2000 Ada Generation, which is essentially the Quadro series in a new form. The RTX Ada Generation GPUs have been gradually released for both desktops and laptops. It started with the flagship model, the RTX 6000 Ada Generation, in September 2022, followed by the laptop version in March 2023 (the RTX 2000 for laptops came earlier). The mid-range desktop models, the 5000/4000 series, were launched in August 2023, and the entry-level desktop model, the RTX 5880, is set to be released in January 2024. This means that NVIDIA has covered all price levels with their new lineup.

In terms of specifications, the RTX 2000 Ada Generation is the smallest card in the series, with a power consumption rating of 70W and only 2,816 CUDA cores. It boasts a performance of 12 TFLOPS, which is lower than the GeForce 4060 but consumes less power. However, it comes with 16GB of GDDR6 ECC memory, which is essential for memory-intensive workstation tasks and processing large amounts of data. The card is priced at $625.

NVIDIA has designed the RTX 2000 for embedded and edge computing applications, such as medical devices, factories, and retail environments, where there are space constraints and limited heat dissipation capabilities. The focus of the upgrade from the previous generation, the RTX A2000, which also uses Ampere architecture and consumes 70W of power, is to cater to these specific requirements.
