Adobe has unveiled an AI Assistant that is currently in beta status, serving as a Generative AI for PDF files in two of Adobe’s programs: Reader and Acrobat. This AI supports content summaries, answering questions, and formatting for email delivery, reports, or presentations. According to Adobe, the AI Assistant’s capabilities will unlock valuable data in approximately 3 trillion PDF documents worldwide.
Operating on AI and Machine Learning, the AI Assistant shares a foundation with Acrobat Liquid Mode, a feature that optimizes the display of PDF documents for mobile screen reading. Current features in the AI Assistant include an assistant system that can answer questions from document data, content summarization for lengthy documents, reference search within documents, and customizable PDF formatting for specific needs. Additionally, it supports formatting for other document formats beyond PDF, such as Word, PowerPoint, and meeting notes files.
The AI Assistant is now available for Acrobat Individual, Acrobat Pro, and Acrobat Teams customers, while Adobe Reader will access this new feature in the future.
TLDR: Adobe introduces an AI Assistant in beta, powered by Generative AI for PDF files in Reader and Acrobat. The AI can summarize content, answer questions, format documents, and support various document formats beyond PDF. Available for Acrobat users now, with Adobe Reader to follow.
