The GOV.UK website has announced a logo change following the transition of the monarchy to “King Charles III” in September 2022, along with selecting a royal cypher as the Tudor crown, instead of the previous one used by Queen Elizabeth II, which featured the St. Edward’s Crown.
Due to the appearance of this new royal cypher in various places such as postboxes, police stations, and the UK government website, a new logo had to be created to ensure consistency across all platforms.
The UK government website is already built with the GOV.UK Design System in place. The team managing this project has updated versions 5.1, 4.8, and 3.15 to implement the new logo. It is expected that all websites will update their codes and display the new logo within two weeks.
TLDR: The GOV.UK website changed its logo to align with the new monarch, King Charles III, and updated the design system to incorporate the new royal cypher.
