Capcom has announced the revival of the game Monster Hunter Stories, a spin-off that was originally released on Nintendo 3DS in 2016. The remastered version will be available for purchase on Nintendo Switch, PC, and PS4 (not on PS5!) in the second quarter of 2024.
Known as the first RPG game in the Monster Hunter universe, Monster Hunter Stories distinguishes itself by utilizing a turn-based combat system, unlike the main action RPG series. The game’s narrative focuses on raising monsters from eggs, fostering a bond, training, battling alongside them, and riding them – a departure from the main series’ emphasis on hunting monsters.
The remastered version features updated graphics, new voice-overs in both Japanese and English, and the addition of a Museum Mode to view sketches and artwork from the game. The original version received positive reviews, with an average score of 79/100, and a sequel titled Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin was released in 2021.
