Lucasfilm Games has announced the revival of the classic Star Wars Battlefront (2004) and Star Wars Battlefront II (2005) for modern consoles under the name Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection. These original games, not to be confused with the EA/DICE reboots of 2015/2017, were known for their online multiplayer capability of up to 64 players, a feature which the new versions will bring back. Additionally, the re-release will include new characters and maps to further enhance the gaming experience.
The original versions of the games were developed by Pandemic Studios, which has since closed down. The new versions are being created by Aspyr, a studio with prior experience in porting the first installment to Mac machines.
Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection will be available on various platforms including Nintendo Switch, PlayStation5, PlayStation4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC Steam (compatible with Steam Deck!) for a price of $35.01. The release date is set for March 14, 2024.
TLDR: Lucasfilm Games is bringing back the original Star Wars Battlefront games with new content and features for modern consoles, developed by Aspyr and set to release on March 14, 2024 for $35.01.
