Is this a Sign!? iPhone Sales in China Plunge 24% in the First 6 Weeks of 2024

Counterpoint Research has revealed that Apple’s iPhone sales in China have dropped by 24% in the first six weeks of this year. Despite Apple offering discounts on its online store and retailers reducing prices by up to $180 in January.

Furthermore, in Taiwan, Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Apple’s manufacturing partner for the iPhone, reported an 18% decline in iPhone sales in the first two months of the year.

Turning back to China, the mobile phone market has shrunk by 7%, yet Huawei has increased its market share by 64%. Honor, which separated in 2020, has grown by 2%, while Oppo has decreased by 29%. The overall market share in the Chinese mobile phone market is comprised of:

– Vivo 17.6% (last year 19.2%)
– Huawei 16.5% (last year 9.4%)
– Honor 16.3% (last year 14.8%)
– Apple 15.7% (last year 19%)
– Xiaomi 13.8% (last year 13.8%)
– Oppo 13.2% (last year 17.3%)

The factors contributing to Huawei’s increased market share are believed to stem from improving the production of the Mate 60 series to meet customer demands, leading to increased sales. Meanwhile, Apple’s declining sales align with previous estimates from Counterpoint Research.
