ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok, has refuted previous reports that Zhang Yiming, the company’s CEO, has initiated negotiations to find a buyer for the TikTok business while the U.S. Congress is considering potentially directing ByteDance to separate the TikTok business, or else it will not be able to operate in the United States.
The U.S. Congress is set to vote on this issue this week, following a proposal from the U.S. Energy and Commerce Committee, which previously passed legislation on the matter.
