AltStore: Revolutionary iOS Alternative App Store Set to Launch in Europe Under DMA Legislation

AltStore, the alternative app store on iOS, is gearing up to launch in Europe after Apple agreed to comply with the Digital Markets Act (DMA) in Europe. AltStore, a beloved project for sideload enthusiasts, has been around for quite some time. This project is the brainchild of two independent developers, Riley Testut and Shane Gill, with its flagship app being Delta, an emulator software for playing Nintendo games on iOS.

Following Apple’s compliance with the DMA and opening up APIs for installing apps from outside the App Store (with no specific timeline mentioned), AltStore’s team has already developed this storefront feature. They will be using the Patreon web payment system, favored by many independent developers, for transactions.

Initially, AltStore’s European version will only feature two apps: Delta (available for free) and Clip, a clipboard management app available for $1 on Patreon. However, they plan to eventually allow other developers to submit and distribute their apps as well.

TLDR: AltStore, the alternative app store for iOS, is set to launch in Europe following Apple’s compliance with the Digital Markets Act (DMA) regulations. Initially offering Delta and Clip apps, AltStore plans to expand to include more developer-submitted apps in the future.
