Windows 10 will end support in October 2025 after a decade-long run. Microsoft previously announced the availability of Windows 10 Extended Security Updates for a fee, extending security patch support for an additional 3 years, similar to the case of Windows 7.
Recently, Microsoft unveiled the pricing for Windows 10 Extended Security Updates (ESU) well in advance, allowing organizations to plan long-term strategies for handling Windows 10 PCs that cannot be upgraded to Windows 11, such as purchasing new PCs or transitioning to Windows 365 cloud version.
The price for purchasing Windows 10 ESU patches stands at $61 per device per year (for the first year of usage), which is a hike from the initial cost of $50 for Windows 7 ESU in the first year.
Organizations already paying for Microsoft’s machine management solutions (like Microsoft Intune or Windows Autopatch) will enjoy a 25% discount, bringing the cost down to $45 per device per year. Additionally, if an organization is already using Windows 365 cloud version but their PC hosts are still on Windows 10, they will receive free automatic patches.
