Google Cloud Enhances AlloyDB Database with AI Features

Google Cloud has announced the addition of AlloyDB AI features, making it easier to utilize artificial intelligence capabilities within the database. This exciting update introduces two key features:

Directly Access AI Models through SQL: With direct access to models within AlloyDB, users can quickly utilize them, including more complex models from Vertex AI.

Accelerate Query Vector Speed: Previously, Cloud SQL supported pgvector extension in PostgreSQL for vector acceleration. Now, AlloyDB has incorporated Google’s own ScaNN technique, which allows for higher-dimensional vectors (with the announcement not specifying the limit), while reducing storage size by three times.

In addition to these two features, AlloyDB also prepares avenues to access Vertex AI or LangChain, with all these features being usable at the normal AlloyDB pricing.
