Google has unveiled the Google Axion Processors, Armv9 CPUs, boasting superior performance compared to the top-of-the-line Arm processors in the cloud. With up to 30% more power in certain tests and significantly better energy efficiency than x86 processors.
Google has not disclosed the internal specs of the chip yet, including the number of cores, cache size, or I/O capabilities. However, it features Arm Neoverse V2 cores and utilizes its own Titanium acceleration for handling tasks beyond primary processing, such as networking, storage, and security.
Servers powered by Axion are expected to be operational later this year.
