TrendForce, a prominent IT market research firm, has recently disclosed letters from Western Digital and Seagate to their customers, informing them of an impending price increase in hard disk drives.
In its letter, Western Digital cited supply shortages in both hard disk drives and flash-based storage, necessitating a price hike on their products. Although official figures are not available, data from TechNews website indicates a continuous 10-20% price surge in hard disk drives from Q3 2023 to Q1 2024.
Similarly, Seagate sent out a similar letter to customers, expressing the need for increased orders due to supply constraints. Consequently, the company is also increasing prices and anticipates the pricing situation to persist for the foreseeable future.
