Google Report Reveals Passkey User Base Surpasses 400 Million Accounts

Google reports the progress of Passkey, a device-based authentication method, in place of password logins to coincide with World Password Day. Google has activated Passkey on over 400 million Google Accounts, with more than 1 billion successful identity verifications. Additionally, Google prepares to support Passkey for high-risk users by introducing the Advanced Protection Program (APP), adding another layer of hardware-based identity verification. Over the past 12 months, several service providers such as Amazon, 1Password, Dashlane, and Docusign have announced increased support for Passkey, confirming that users who switch to Passkey experience greater convenience.
