Furthermore, Dusk Golem indicates that the game has been in development since 2018, originally intended to be a separate installment from Resident Evil Village but ultimately becoming the main entry in the series. Resident Evil 9 is said to have the highest budget and development time in the franchise.

Prior reports have hinted at Capcom incorporating Open World game design expertise from Dragon’s Dogma 2 into their upcoming projects, including Monster Hunter Wild, already released, and the upcoming Resident Evil 9.
