Microsoft Rumored to be Remastering the First Installment of Halo, Possibly Coming to PlayStation.

Tom Warren, a Microsoft journalist from The Verge, has provided unconfirmed information that Microsoft may be remastering the first installment of the Halo game series, also known as Halo: Combat Evolved, with the possibility of the remastered game being available on the rival platform PlayStation.

The project to bring games to rival platforms under Microsoft’s umbrella is codenamed Project Latitude. Previously, Microsoft has successfully ported 4 games – Sea of Thieves, Grounded, Pentiment, Hi-Fi Rush, with Sea of Thieves achieving great success.

According to reports, Microsoft is not stopping there and is “considering” bringing other games within their portfolio to different platforms as well. Some of the games that have surfaced include the new Doom, Hellblade 2, Starfield, Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition, and Age of Mythology. However, not every game under Microsoft’s belt will follow this strategy, as indicated by Warren mentioning that games like Gears 6, the new Fable installment, and South of Midnight are not part of this plan.

The original Halo: Combat Evolved was released in 2001 on the original Xbox console. It was later remastered in 2011 as Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary for Xbox 360 and subsequently released on PC in 2020.
