Cutting-Edge PC Manufacturer Tuxedo Reveals Progress in Developing Notebooks Powered by Snapdragon X Elite

Microsoft recently introduced the Copilot+ PC featuring the Snapdragon X Elite chipset, raising questions about its compatibility with other operating systems. At Computex, Tuxedo, a German PC manufacturer, announced their development of a Linux laptop. This move is not surprising as many Linux distributions already support Arm architecture, and Qualcomm is reportedly working on drivers for the Snapdragon X Elite chipset for Linux.

Tuxedo is currently testing the first prototype of the laptop and expects to release a second version soon. However, these are test machines in alpha status, with Qualcomm’s driver development possibly requiring Kernel 6.11 or future versions. The prototype boasts a 14-inch screen with a resolution of 2560×1600, weighing 1.36 kilograms, 32GB of RAM, and an M.2 PCIe Gen 4 slot for storage.

Tuxedo anticipates the possibility of launching the notebook by the end of this year.

TLDR: Microsoft’s Copilot+ PC with Snapdragon X Elite chipset raises questions about operating system compatibility, as Tuxedo develops a Linux laptop using Arm architecture with Qualcomm working on drivers for Linux. Testing is ongoing, with a potential release by year-end.
