Microsoft has revealed through the DirectX Developer blog that the progress of gaming on Windows on Arm has taken another leap. Software to combat cheating, including BattlEye, Denuvo Anti-Cheat, and Wellbia XIGNCODE3 / UNCHEATER, now fully supports Windows on Arm.
Although Microsoft has the Prism emulator to convert legacy x86 game code to Arm without any additional work required from game developers, along with the Auto SR feature utilizing NPU to enhance frame rates, it can work seamlessly with many popular games (such as Baldur’s Gate 3, as demonstrated by Microsoft). However, online games that rely on anti-cheat systems to prevent cheating still face challenges as they cannot be played on Windows on Arm.
Bastian Suter, CEO of BattlEye, mentioned that they have collaborated with Qualcomm in the past months to develop Arm64 drivers and have worked with Microsoft to improve Prism emulator support for BattlEye.
Currently, BattlEye is operational on Windows 11 24H2 but requires an update to version 26100.863. Microsoft has demonstrated Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, featuring BattlEye, running on a Copilot+ PC in a video.
TLDR: Microsoft announces progress in gaming on Windows on Arm with support from anti-cheating software. BattlEye now works on Windows 11 24H2 with the help of Qualcomm and Microsoft.
