Copilot+ PC Review: Impressive Battery Life, But Not the Ultimate Gamer Solution

The Copilot + PC product line powered by the Snapdragon X Elite chip has been making waves in the tech world for a while now, with availability spreading to international markets and receiving positive reviews from various media outlets. ASUS Vivobook S 15 has been a popular choice for reviewers, showcasing battery life comparable to Apple’s Macbook and surprisingly good performance with x86 programs. However, gaming performance still falls short, as highlighted in critiques from various sources.

Windows Central has praised the Snapdragon X Elite chip, likening its performance to Apple Silicon on Windows laptops. The Copilot+ feature stands out with its AI image processing capabilities, impressing users with quick results. While non-ARM compatible programs work well, heavy-duty tasks like multitasking layers and editing 4K videos can be challenging, requiring optimization from software developers like Adobe.

Tech Power Up’s testing revealed the Snapdragon X Elite’s strong multicore performance in Cinebench 2024 and PCMark 10 but showed lower efficiency in tasks like video encoding and file conversions compared to Intel Core processors. Despite having LPDDR5X-8448 RAM, the chip lags in data copying/writing tests against Intel. However, it excels in memory latency, outperforming Intel in memory read speeds.

Dave2D praised the Snapdragon X Elite for its fast performance with x86 programs, although true ARM programs show even better results. The battery life impressed reviewers, lasting longer than a full workday with moderate usage. Still, gaming experiences are subpar, with a significant drop in performance when playing popular titles like Diablo IV and Overwatch 2.

Overall, the introduction of the Snapdragon X Elite and Copilot + PC signals a new era for Windows on ARM devices, promising a bright future for the platform. TLDR: Windows Central, Digitaltrends, and Tech Power Up are optimistic about the potential of Snapdragon X Elite and Copilot + PC, marking a significant step forward for Windows on ARM devices.
