Announcement: Forza Horizon 4 Ceases Digital Sales Due to Expiry of Automotive Partnership Contract, Gameplay Functionality Unaffected.

Studio Playground Games under the Microsoft umbrella, the developers behind the racing game series Forza Horizon, have announced that the previous installment, Forza Horizon 4, will cease digital sales on December 15, 2024. This decision stems from the game’s limited-time licensing agreements with various car brands, preventing further sales once the contracts expire. However, existing customers can continue to enjoy the game both offline and online, while physical copies will still be available for purchase and play.

During this period, the studio has also slashed game prices, providing a cost-effective opportunity for new players to access the game. On Steam, the Standard Edition is now discounted by 80% to 139.80 Baht, with the Ultimate Edition, featuring all cars, reduced to 239.80 Baht.

Moreover, for players who have previously played the base game through Xbox Game Pass and purchased additional DLCs, the studio is graciously granting ownership of the base game as well. Codes will be sent through Xbox messaging for players to redeem.

TLDR: Studio Playground Games will discontinue digital sales of Forza Horizon 4 due to expiring licensing agreements with car brands, but existing customers can still play. The game is currently available at discounted prices, and players who bought DLCs after playing through Xbox Game Pass will receive ownership of the base game.
