AI Deepfake Detection Unveiled by HONOR to Combat Facial Manipulation on Videos

In addition to unveiling the HONOR 200 Series smartphone, HONOR has introduced new features that will be added to mobile devices in the future, such as AI Deepfake Detection to detect face manipulation in videos and AI Defocus Eye Protection to protect eye strain.

HONOR states that AI Deepfake Detection can detect videos frame by frame, including blinking, unseen image defects, and image sharpness. If abnormalities are detected, a warning message “Beware of dishonesty” will pop up on the user’s screen. Initially, this feature may only be available during video calls, but it is possible that it will be developed to work on other apps in the future.

As for AI Defocus Eye Protection, it helps protect users’ eyes by detecting where the user’s gaze is focused on the screen and blurring out other areas. Furthermore, this feature helps reduce short-sightedness for users who read books on mobile devices for 75 minutes non-stop every 25 minutes.

Currently, HONOR has not provided further details on when these features will be added and which smartphone models they will be available on. More information is expected to be announced by HONOR in the near future.

TLDR: HONOR introduces AI Deepfake Detection and AI Defocus Eye Protection features for future mobile devices to detect face manipulation in videos and reduce eye strain.
