Apple has announced the addition of countries supporting the Emergency SOS feature that connects to satellite for requesting emergency assistance in areas with no cellular signal. Japan is the latest country and the first in Asia to be supported by Apple.
The Emergency SOS feature via satellite was introduced starting from the iPhone 14 in 2022, with Apple offering it for free to users in the first 2 years upon activation of a new iPhone. Currently, it is supported in a total of 16 countries for use on the iPhone 14 and iPhone 15.
The countries that currently support the Emergency SOS feature include Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
