Delta Airlines CEO Reports Approximately $500 Million Damage in CrowdStrike Case.

Ed Bastian, CEO of Delta Airlines, revealed in an interview with CNBC that the airline incurred damages from the CrowdStrike update that caused Windows operating systems to become unusable, resulting in an estimated loss of around $500 million. This was calculated based on the cancellation of more than 5,000 flights and expenses for compensating passengers and hotels over a period of approximately 5 days.

When asked if Delta will seek restitution for these damages, Bastian stated that the company will pursue it as they have no other option.

As of now, there have been no offers of compensation from CrowdStrike, besides providing advice on restoring system operations. CrowdStrike representatives clarified that the company has not been informed about any legal proceedings and will not comment on the matter. Microsoft has not issued any statements regarding these developments.

Previously, CNBC reported that Delta had reached out to prominent attorney David Boies, known for his involvement in the US government’s case against Microsoft regarding Internet Explorer browser violations, to pursue legal action against CrowdStrike and Microsoft.
