Google has announced the expansion of countries that support Google Search AI Overviews, a feature that uses AI to help answer questions on the search results page. It was made available to all users in the United States in May.
The additional countries in this round include the United Kingdom, India, Japan, Indonesia, Mexico, and Brazil, with support for providing answers in local languages. Google stated that they have tested this for some time.
In addition, AI Overviews have improved the display of related content links, with desktop versions showing a list of links on the right instead of cards at the bottom. On the other hand, mobile versions display links on the top right corner. Google mentioned that displaying links alongside answers significantly increases the visibility of the referred webpages.
Another new feature introduced is the ability to save answers, where the original answers will be displayed if searched within the same topic.
