Consumer Council Files Collective Lawsuit Against Samsung for Green Screen Issues After One UI Update

Mr. Sopon Nuat, the head of the Consumer Protection and Advocacy Department of the Consumer Organization (Consumer Association), represents 119 consumers who have filed a class action lawsuit against Samsung Thailand for issues with several models of Samsung smartphones that were updated to One UI and developed pink or green lines on the screen in April 2567.

Mr. Sopon stated that nearly 250 consumers using various Samsung smartphone models such as Note 20, S20, S21, and S22 have complained. When these phone owners contacted Samsung, they were informed that the devices were damaged and they would have to pay for repairs themselves, ranging from 7,000 to 15,000 baht. The Consumer Association contacted Samsung for clarification but received no cooperation in resolving the issue, leading to the filing of a class action lawsuit in the Southern Bangkok Civil Court on August 27, 2567.
