Renowned game developer Shinji Mikami, the mastermind behind the Resident Evil and Dino Crisis series, recently sat down for an interview with Eurogamer at Gamescom in Germany.
During the interview, Mikami discussed Capcom’s survey earlier this year, which revealed that fans were most eager to see a revival of Dino Crisis. Despite the high demand for the game, Mikami expressed concerns that the popularity of Monster Hunter, a dragon/dinosaur hunting game, may overshadow Dino Crisis in the market. He believes that this could pose challenges for the success of a new installment or remake of Dino Crisis.
Mikami also touched upon Capcom’s upcoming online dinosaur shooting game, Exoprimal, noting that it has a distinct concept from Dino Crisis. Despite this, fans who see similarities between the two games may have high expectations for Exoprimal.
Having recently departed from Tango Gameworks, Mikami has founded a new studio called Kamuy but has yet to release any new game projects.
