Apple unveils the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, the new flagship smartphones for the year. Boasting Apple Intelligence support, a new Camera Control button on the bottom right, upgraded camera specs, and the enhanced A18 chip for improved performance.
The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus feature strengthened ceramic-coated front glass, 50% stronger than the previous models. With OLED Super Retina XDR displays at 6.1 inches and 6.7 inches respectively.
The iPhone 16 introduces the new Camera Control button on the bottom right side of the device. This touch-sensitive button allows software control of the camera. Users can tap to launch the camera app, slide their finger on the button for photo adjustments like zoom, exposure settings, depth of field, and more. This button also opens API access for third-party apps like Snapchat.
Additionally, the iPhone 16 now includes the Action Button shortcut, previously exclusive to the Pro models in the iPhone 15.
The Camera Control is also set to support Visual Intelligence mode with a future software update. This feature enables users to capture images around them and instantly retrieve related information like restaurant details, event announcements to add to the calendar, encountered dog breeds, and more. This function integrates external app data connections such as Google, ChatGPT, and others.
The cameras of the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus have been upgraded with the primary Fusion 48MP camera, 2x optical zoom, Ultra Wide macro imaging support, and Spatial photo and video capture for Apple Vision Pro usage.
