Transfer of Chat System from Slack to Microsoft Teams by Disney Following Data Breach in Slack

Internal documents from Disney have leaked, revealing that the company is in the process of transitioning its internal chat system from Slack to Microsoft Teams due to a data leak issue.

An email from Hugh Johnston, Disney’s CFO, notified employees that the technology team is scheduled to start the transition in the fourth quarter of 2024 and expects to complete it by the first quarter of 2025.

Previously, a hacker group known as Nullbulge claimed to have breached Disney’s Slack system and leaked 1.1TB of internal documents in July. The breach occurred when the computer of an employee was compromised, allowing access to sensitive Slack data.

The reason behind Disney’s decision to switch to Microsoft Teams remains unclear, but Marc Benioff, CEO of Salesforce, the current owner of Slack, has reassured that their system is secure. He also mentioned that Disney will continue to use other services from Salesforce in the future.
