Unveiling the Ghost of Yōtei: Sequel to Ghost of Tsushima relocates to Hokkaido, set for release in 2025.

Sony and Sucker Punch Productions have unveiled the game Ghost of Yōtei, a sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, scheduled for release next year in 2025.

Taking place in the year 1603, 300 years after the events of the first game, Ghost of Yōtei follows a new protagonist named Atsu as he traverses the mountainous region of Yōtei on the island of Ezo, also known as Hokkaido in the present day. During this period, Japan has yet to fully establish its rule, and society in the Ezo region lacks the rigid clan systems seen in Tsushima.

Sucker Punch has expressed a desire to maintain the traditional gameplay format, allowing players to embody a samurai rogue exploring ancient Japan with freedom to explore the world as they please, all while experiencing breathtaking landscapes. This installment will further emphasize the realism of nature more than ever before.

The game has not revealed much of the storyline and only hints at a vague release window of 2025.
