YouTube has announced a partnership with Shopee to integrate shopping carts into videos, similar to YouTube Shopping. The service will launch in Indonesia first, with Thailand and Vietnam to follow in the coming weeks.
Ajay Vidyasagar, YouTube’s Director in Asia-Pacific, stated that e-commerce partnerships will continue to expand beyond Shopee, gradually adding more partners in phases.
This collaboration comes partly as a result of TikTok closing a deal with Tokopedia in Indonesia, causing TikTok’s market share to skyrocket.
