Unconfirmed: Apple Withdraws from OpenAI Funding Round

The recent news from The Wall Street Journal has shed light on the updates regarding OpenAI’s latest funding round. Apple, one of the investors, has decided not to participate in the investment anymore. Sarah Friar, OpenAI’s CEO, disclosed that the details of the entire funding agreement will be finalized within the next week. The total investment amount unofficially stands at approximately $6.5 billion, valuing the company at around $150 billion. Microsoft, a significant investor in OpenAI, is expected to inject an additional $1 billion in this round.

However, the negotiations are still ongoing, and there might be new investors or existing investors who might have a change of heart at the last minute. According to the previous news report, investment firm Thrive Capital will lead the new funding round, with various other investment firms and wealth management funds showing interest in joining. Apart from Apple, another technology company involved in this round is NVIDIA.
