Elon Musk announced via his X account that moving forward, posts on X utilizing bold, italic, or other special formatting (which is exclusive to X Premium verified users) will be displayed as plain text on the main Timeline page of the platform due to misuse. Writing in bold to demand attention from readers, Elon mentioned that he has read until his eyes hurt (My eyes are bleeding).
Messages with bold, italic, and similar formatting will still appear the same when clicked into the post itself.
Certainly, while the change has not yet taken effect, many X users have been experimenting by using bold and italic formatting under Elon’s posts.
The same applies to italics and any other formatting. They are being misused for engagement farming.
