After years of anticipation, Mozilla has finally released Thunderbird version Android for beta testing.
Thunderbird for Android is an evolution of the open-source email client K-9, developed by Christian Ketterer (cketti), a key developer of K-9 who joined Mozilla as a full-time employee in 2022 to align K-9 with Mozilla’s desired features. The project continues to be developed as open-source on GitHub.
Fast forward two years, Thunderbird for Android is now widely available for testing on Google Play, offering features such as a unified inbox, automatic email account setup, and compatibility with various email providers.
The Thunderbird for Android development team plans to conduct beta testing for approximately one month and aims to release a stable version by the end of October.
