Limited Edition Collectibles Released by Nintendo Museum Following Discovery of High Resale Prices.

The Nintendo Museum in Kyoto, Japan has officially opened its doors to the public starting from yesterday (October 2). One of the highlights is the array of memorabilia available, such as console keychains, Hanafuda playing cards, and various Joy-Con patterned pillows. Due to the current randomized entry system at the museum, there has been a surge in demand for these memorabilia items, leading to resale.

Nintendo has announced measures to address this issue, stating that certain souvenir items will be limited to one purchase per person. These items include keychains (available in 13 designs, limited to one each), Hanafuda playing cards, lanyards, magnets (available in 7 designs, limited per box), Mario-inspired cookie tins, and Joy-Con patterned pillows (available in 4 designs, limited to one per person).

One reason Nintendo may have chosen to restrict purchases after just one day of museum opening could be the significant price hikes seen on the Japanese second-hand market websites for these souvenir items.
