Sony Wireless Headphones: Enhanced with Location Tracking via Google’s Find My Device

Renowned Android blogger Mishaal Rahman recently shared valuable information that Sony has begun releasing firmware updates for some of its wireless headphones to support Google’s Find My Device network. The eligible Sony headphone models for this update include WF-1000XM5, WH-1000XM5, and LinkBuds S.

Previously, Google had already extended support for wireless headphones from JBL and various smart tag devices across multiple brands. However, Google’s Find My Device still lacks compatibility with Samsung’s SmartThings Find accessories.

In a recent tweet by Mishaal Rahman, it was highlighted that Sony is implementing updates for its WF-1000XM5 earbuds and WH-1000XM5 headphones to integrate Google’s Find My Device network and ‘Auto Switch’ feature. Additionally, the Buds update introduces Fast Pair support via Bluetooth LE Audio.

TLDR: Sony is updating some of its wireless headphones to support Google’s Find My Device network and ‘Auto Switch’, alongside introducing Fast Pair support for the Buds.
