After the renowned tech reviewer and YouTuber MKBHD introduced the mobile wallpaper download app Panels, which faced heavy criticism for being overpriced and lacking in quality, the app has recently released an update with the following changes:
High Definition (HD) images are now available for download without the need to watch ads. Previously, watching two ads would only provide standard definition (SD) images.
Full Resolution images can now be downloaded after watching just one ad.
The wallpaper search page no longer includes intrusive ads.
However, the annual subscription model priced at $49.99 or 1,990 Thai Baht continues to spark controversy, as it contradicts MKBHD’s previous statement “Never charge for something that was previously free.” Panels has yet to clarify whether this aspect will change in the future.

TLDR: Panels app updates to offer HD and Full Resolution wallpapers without ads, but annual subscription fee remains a point of contention.
