Whispers of Xbox Cloud Gaming Opening Up Boundless Game Options via Cloud Access, Unrestricted to Only Certain Titles

Since Microsoft launched Xbox Cloud Gaming, also known as xCloud, players can only play games that are supported by xCloud (found in the Xbox Game Pass library). Even if players own certain games themselves, if xCloud doesn’t support them, they cannot play. Microsoft had promised to roll out this service in 2022, but it never came to fruition.

Recently, The Verge reported closely on Microsoft’s preparations to allow players to stream any game they own through Xbox Cloud Gaming starting in November. News suggests that Microsoft has been working on a new game streaming server system called Project Lapland for quite some time now, which aligns with what Sarah Bond, head of Xbox, announced about allowing Android users in the US to purchase and play Xbox games in November.
