Adobe has introduced the capability of Generative AI in the video editing program, Premiere Pro. This feature, known as Generative Extend, can create short clips to fill gaps that may not have been captured during filming. The result seamlessly blends with the rest of the footage and transitions smoothly between clips, allowing users to work on other tasks while the AI generates new clips in the background.
Other functions of Generative Extend include the ability to insert images as needed for J or L cuts, adjust eye positions if a shot is off-center, and add additional sound effects if a clip is too short. However, it is important to note that the AI does not support voiceovers and music due to copyright issues.
Generative Extend is currently in beta status with limitations such as support for resolutions of 1920×1080 or 1280×720, aspect ratio of 16:9, frame rates of 12-30fps, 8-bit SDR, mono audio, and stereo audio. Users can begin using this feature starting from today.
