The Chinese authorities, in collaboration with the Sri Lankan police, successfully dismantled a criminal syndicate in Colombo over the past week. Altogether, they managed to arrest 230 Chinese nationals, confiscate 250 computers, and seize an additional 500 mobile phones.

This operation had multiple focal points, with the largest being the arrest of 126 Chinese individuals, along with one Thai and one Filipino.

The Sri Lankan Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that these syndicates primarily target activities outside of Sri Lanka, without specifying any particular national targets. The Chinese government dispatched officials to assist with this raid.

The strategy of conducting raids on overseas-based call centers has been a recurring tactic employed by the Chinese authorities in recent times. Similar operations have taken place in Cambodia, the Philippines, the United Arab Emirates, Kenya, and even countries in the European Union like Spain.
