YouTube has officially launched the YouTube Shopping affiliate program in Thailand in collaboration with Shopee, enabling creators to earn commissions when viewers purchase recommended products.
Thailand is the 4th country in the world and the 2nd in Southeast Asia to introduce the YouTube Shopping affiliate program, following its launch in the United States, Korea, and Indonesia. Eligible creators can now join the program to earn commissions by tagging products available on Shopee in their videos.
Creator criteria include being part of the YouTube Partner Program, having over 10,000 followers, and residing in select countries such as the US, South Korea, Indonesia, India, Thailand, or Vietnam. Channels focused on content for adults rather than children are eligible, excluding music channels or Official Artist Channels.
A recent study by Kantar revealed that 87% of viewers believe that YouTube influences their purchasing decisions, with 93% agreeing that YouTube content increases their confidence in the products they buy. By 2023, global viewers have consumed over 30 billion hours of shopping-related videos on YouTube.
YouTube Shopping offers creators another revenue stream in addition to existing channels on YouTube, such as advertising revenue, YouTube Premium revenue, channel memberships, Super Thanks, Super Chat, and Super Stickers.
