Anthropic has announced that the budget-friendly model of artificial intelligence, Claude 3.5 Haiku, is now available for use through API and cloud providers such as Amazon Bedrock and Vertex AI. Despite its initial release last month alongside the updated Sonnet 3.5, Haiku maintains its selling point as a small, fast-working model now offered at a higher price point. Anthropic states that through final testing, Haiku has outperformed the previous flagship model, Claude 3 Opus, at a significantly lower cost. Reflecting this enhanced capability, the price for Claude 3.5 Haiku has been raised to 1 dollar per 1 million tokens for input and 5 dollars per 1 million tokens for output.
However, Claude 3.5 Haiku still lacks image analysis capabilities, a standout feature of Claude 3 Haiku. This allows the original Claude 3 Haiku model to remain available for use at its original price of 0.25 dollars per 1 million tokens for input and 1.25 dollars per 1 million tokens for output.

TLDR: Anthropic raises the price of Claude 3.5 Haiku after surpassing benchmarks in performance compared to the previous model, Claude 3 Opus, offering increased intelligence at a higher cost.
