Baidu unveiled the Xiaodu AI Glasses at the annual Baidu World 2024 conference last week. Described as the first AI-powered glasses that operate on a Chinese language model, these smart glasses weigh 45 grams and feature a front camera with 16MP resolution. Equipped with AI-powered image stabilization, the battery can last up to 56 hours on standby and 5 hours of continuous use, with a quick 30-minute full charge time. The glasses also include 4 microphones and speakers designed to minimize sound leakage while being able to distinguish ambient noise from the wearer’s voice.
Demonstrating the versatility of the Xiaodu glasses, Baidu showcased various functions that eliminate the need for users to pick up their phones. These include voice commands for queries, displaying information from dictionaries, showing calorie intake in front of the user, translating text in real-time, and displaying notifications on the display.
Baidu has announced that the Xiaodu glasses will be available for sale in the first half of 2025.
TLDR: Baidu introduced the Xiaodu AI Glasses at the Baidu World 2024 conference, featuring AI capabilities and a lightweight design. The glasses offer various functions without the need for a smartphone and are set to be released in 2025.
